- How is the monthly return on a fixed deposit calculated?
- For a payout deposit, monthly interest ≈ principal × annual rate ÷ 12. If interest is left to compound, the maturity value is principal × (1 + rate/12)^months.
- Does it account for tax and inflation?
- Yes — under Advanced options you can apply a tax rate to the interest and an inflation rate, so the calculator shows your after-tax maturity value and what it's worth in today's money, alongside the effective annual yield (APY).
- Simple vs compounded — which does this show?
- Both: the monthly interest payout (simple) and the maturity value if the interest compounds, so you can compare a payout FD with a cumulative one.
